WHAT WE BELIEVE

God
God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are referred to as the Trinity; they are co-equal and are one God.

Man
Man is made in the image of God, with will, intellect, and emotions, to be like him in character. Sin entered the world through Adam, and because of this sin, man is separated from God.

Eternity
Man was created to exist forever. Eternal life is through Jesus and Jesus only. The Bible is clear that Jesus is the only way to eternal life. There is no other way. Without being born again, eternity is spent with Satan.

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father; meaning he is God. Jesus came from the heavenly dwelling, was born of the virgin Mary, and lived here on earth for approximately thirty three years. Jesus lived a sinless human life and then offered himself as the perfect, unblemished sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. On the third day he rose from the dead, walked among his disciples for forty days, and then ascended into heaven. Scripture tells us that he will return in the same way he left. In the book of Revelation Jesus says “Behold, I am coming soon.”

Salvation
Salvation is a free gift from God. Salvation is not accomplished by or through works, nor is it by good deeds. Salvation is a free gift to those that believe in the name of Jesus. According to the Jewish customs, a name represented the person. In this case, believing in the name of Jesus means you believe he died on the cross, rose on the third day, ascended into heaven, and he will return for his bride, the church.

Eternal Security
Salvation is a free gift from God to those that believe in Jesus, it is not by works or any other means. Since salvation is a free gift, it cannot not be taken; therefore, those that believe have “eternal security.”

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co equal with God. Once one becomes born again, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in the believer; through the Spirit, believers are lead, guided, directed, and empowered to live according to the will of God.

The Bible
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God. The Bible was written by human authors under the direct guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God’s Word; it is living and active, and provides direct teachings of God.

Baptism
Baptism is by immersion. Baptism is not what makes one born again; however, it is the public acknowledgement of one’s profession of Jesus as their personal Lord and savior. Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us. The bread and juice symbolize Christ’s broken body and shed blood. The Lord ’s Supper is not a means of salvation; however, it is for believers only.
